That was then....this is now

"Here I am on my first day in this world. It was an interesting day - to say the least."

"If I remember correctly, I was about 10 days old here."

In some ways, the time has flown by, while in others, it has moved slowly. As we look back, we can't imagine life without Cashew. How special that day was when we brough her home with us. Each day, she changes a little and each day, she gains a little more independence. And so, we savour each day, each moment.

We took Cashew to Chuck E Cheese for her birthday.
"Wow, my parents bought me a car!!! Move over Danica!"

"I can't believe I'm in the car with Barney! I can barely contain my excitement."

"This one might not be my style."

"Another mode of transportation. Choo choo chug a chug a chug..."

"And of course, gotta have the birthday hat."

The 4 hour tour, 4 hour tour...

This past weekend, Cashew and I went on a road trip to see some friends in town for the weekend. We had driven over 2 hours and were nearly at our destination where we were looking forward to lunch and rest. When we reached the border, the officer asked me where the father of my child was! I told him that he was at home. Then, the border officer asked me if I had a letter. "A letter?" I said to myself. "No," I replied aloud. Then he told me that I would have to go inside to see the immigration officer. AGH! So, I parked and got Cashew out of the car and entered the office. We lined up and the immigration officer asked me where the father of my child was - again, I told them that he was at home. She then asked me if I had a letter. Again, I told them no. Next, she asked for a number where he could be reached. I gave her our home number but I wasn't sure if she'd be able to reach Spidey since I had talked to him not long ago and he had mentioned he was going to get his haircut. She asked me to take a seat - which I did not do - because I had already been sitting in the car for 2 hours. Cashew and I walked around the lobby while she called Spidey. Thankfully, he was still at home. She asked him if he knew I was taking Cashew across the border - of course, he answered yes. She advised him that next time we would need a letter. She also said that the letter would have to be notarized! Well, there won't be a next time. I'm applying for a Nexus Pass and our next trip will be when Spidey can go with us. Lesson learned!

We had a little birthday celebration compliments of GrandmaLu. A-Ma, thank you for the mango birthday cake. Cashew had a great time picking off the strawberry slices off the sides and eating them. Hmm, who ate the rest of the cake?

It was great to finally meet you, killerbees. What great weather we had. The view was amazing! Hope you consider moving out here someday :)

Somehow I don't think I'm in the right family picture. Thanks O, for sharing your 'crackers'! It was nice seeing your whole family - you make cute little noises Q. Take care all of you!

Unfortunately, we had a rough ride back home. Here's Cashew at around hour 2 of our drive - still waiting in the line-up. The border wait was 1.5 hours, Cashew couldn't nap while I drove plus, we hit some slow traffic after the border. Turned out to be 4 hour trip instead of the usual 2 -2.5 hr ride. But, we had fun visiting so many friends. Thanks to Pushi for babysitting 2 babies alone while the mommies attended Auntie Cricket's baby shower! Kudos!

Happy Easter!

Hooray, Sushi's family came to visit us on Easter weekend. Isn't she a doll? We even coordinated our sleeping schedules to make it easier on our parents - nice of us huh?

Ooh, look who I found - Easter Bunny...hmm, he looks bigger than in the books...

We took these pictures at the local aquarium - can you find the fish in the first picture? Aren't they amazing? So colourful!

Old Friends, New Friends

We travelled up to visit with Auntie S who was on her way back home after a long vacation. So great to finally meet her and spend some time with her!

Cousin S came into town to visit Dadda. Here she is 7 weeks old!

Wait, I just got up - no pictures until I'm ready.

Hmm, what do we have here? New toy - looks like a kangaroo, maybe from Australia?

Hello? Anyone there? How did they get my cell phone number?

New things

Hi everyone! My parents have learned that I'm really quite friendly. The other night while they were eating out, a nice man waved at me and I waved back...then my eyes continued to track him...and I turned my body around to see where he was going...and I continued to wave at him to get his attention. Dadda says I can only wave at the opposite gender for a few more months.

I've been crawling around - combat style. Here I've crawled into a bunker and am hiding from the one-eyed creature (you'll see him later).

A couple weeks ago, I gave my parents a scare - in the morning, I had made a peep...and then was quiet for a while. When Dadda checked on me, I had pulled myself up and was hanging over the edge of the crib - but I was holding onto the railing still. I was just checking how high my bed was.

Well, Dadda's surgery looks good so far doesn't it? Notice the 'yes' written above his eyebrow - yup, they got the right eye. Thank you everyone for your prayers and support.

Out and About

Now that I've got these two bottom teeth, I'm taking good care of them!

Cool huh? This shirt bib came all the way from Taiwan - thanks Grandma! I really need it now - I'm quite messy - my pants and sleeves all get food on them.

You'd never know I was inside the shopping mall would you?

Spidey took me shopping for shoes - what do you think of these pink Puma's? Hmm, let me get a closer look - I'll have to think about it.

We're going where? Yahoo! Car ride!

Hi everyone. We went for a walk around the lake today...well, Momma and I walked. Dadda ran around the lake with a friend.

It was getting cold later on and Dadda lent me his gloves - do you think they fit? :) Afterwards, we went to have some Mexican! Adios amigos!

Doin' Chores

Thought a blowdry might help my 'plentiful' head of hair fluff up a bit :)

This bottom shelf needed some serious rearranging. Isn't this much better now that everything is out in the open and accessible?

Hmm, this view is pretty interesting. Cool mat huh? Auntie Mushi, we're one square short to make 5x5 mat!

Yippee! Welcome to the world cousin! You look smashin' - hey, that shirt looks familiar! Let your parents have some rest okay? :)

Fun - was wonderful seeing Auntie L and Uncle R who came in from up yonder. Thanks for stopping by and exploring downtown with us ;) Best wishes as you start a new adventure in June, Auntie L.

Gee whiz...

Gee, this stuff tastes great - vegetable beef! Yum, yum - I eat really quickly now! Hooray!

Gee, I'll miss you lots. Bye Bye, Grandma K - thanks for everything.

Gee, mommy, do you think I'm wearing enough pink? Hoodie compliments of Auntie Mushi (well, on loan from Sushi) and the polka dot outfit compliments of Auntie Cindy. Love it - thank you!

Happy New Year - ruff ruff! Gee, Auntie Mushi - your jacket is really shiny!

Gee, I thought I was older - how come Sushi's pushing me around? ;)

Gee, I like brushing my teeth - is this the right technique Auntie Elaine?
