Rose City continued

Strollin' around the downtown cultural district.

Sand and rock display at the Japanese Garden.

Of course, photo infront of Niketown - just like the shot we took in Barcelona, sans Cashew.

Rose City

First a visit to the Japanese Garden - "Best in the world, outside of Japan."

Cashew's been putting her finger back in her mouth. Her right molar is in so it's the left one that must be coming in.

We visited the Historical Society and Art Museum downtown. It certainly was different with Cashew running around - we had to take turns looking at the art and then trading off to protect the art!

The Rose Test Garden - mmm, sweet.

"Dear Lord Jesus, please don't let dada pull me into the pool."
After Cashew's brush with the cold water at the beach, she was tentative in entering the pool and preferred to stay with whoever was on dry land. We only got so far as getting her feet in the pool. Hopefully next time, she'll go in for a dip. She enjoyed playing with duck though.

Beach

"Hmm, something interesting is going on over there...this is a great place to people-watch."

"No, dada. I don't want to be any closer to the noisy water."

"Hee hee, now this is more fun! Tickled by dada's scruff."

Another road trip

Cashew sometimes is attached to 'Be-ar' - on this trip, she took him into the car and cuddled him to sleep :) or maybe it's the other way around? Utter exhaustion.

Momma's weekend

One day, when we were crossing a crosswalk downtown, an automated voice said that it was safe to cross the street. As we imitated that voice and changed our voices, it would crack Cashew up!

Last week, I had a chance to enjoy a few days on the island while attending a training course. I kept Golddustgirl company and we did some exploring - what a beautiful place our state is. It was neat to see the Scandanavian influence on the island. Being over there really felt like we were in a different country. Compared to the city, it seemed quite unpopulated and peaceful. So much water and beautiful scenery. We visited the Chief's grave, enjoyed some great fish 'n chips, and even enjoyed some local music at an outdoor stage. We went through some tribal lands, walked around and found a beach with tons of fishheads! Overall, it was very restful and just a nice break from the busy life at home. Spidey did a great job taking care of Cashew. But, it was strange being away from her for so many nights. I felt like I had so much time - but Golddustgirl helped me to pass the time away by catching me up on 'Big Brother' and 'So you think you can dance'! :)

Happy happy joy joy

Our small group...doesn't look so small anymore does it? We enjoyed food, games and fun - Thanks H family for all the planning etc.

Congratulations Hello Kitty - everything was beautiful. Wishing you and hubby many happy times.
Ooh, look who was in town! Sushi is crawling around now while Cashew walks/runs around. Cashew will miss looking for 'ba-by'. Thanks Mushi and GrandmaLu for all your help - we're almost finished the leftovers :)

Summer in the city

On our vacation, we decided to explore the city. First, we visited the giraffe, elephants, lion etc. at the local zoo. Here, Cashew learned to say 'o-wl'. She was a little stunned here.

The next day, we took a short cruise. It sure is hard keeping a curious and mobile little girl occupied on a boat in the hot sun while avoiding any possibility of taking an accidental swim.

Finally, we got to visit the new library. Here's Cashew lounging in their couches which look like cement blocks but really aren't.

Auntie MoMo spent a day with us - what fun it was to play in the park with her.

Sunny and Hot

We visited the Strawberry Festival - oops, forgot to take pictures with XiaoZhuZhu.

Yogurt mustache...it does a body good.

Hmmm, maybe this one - just give me a few more minutes to check this rack...

New summer dress for the hot and sunny weather here. Thank you Auntie P - so nice of you.

les pieds

The biggest 'cheeeze' in the land. Me and Tigger just hangin' out.

Guess who's using ses pieds? Video to come...

Party at Jocie's

Ooh, picture with the birthday girl!

Great, I have a chance to practice my dunks. Hmm, I'm not sure if this hoop is regulation height though...

What are those adults doing? Should we try to make them laugh and smile?

Great, good job!

Chillin' with Auntie Momo - hope you visit again soon so we can go on a walk together!

Baby Derby

One morning, Spidey was perusing our mail - which is usually full of junk - and he found a Baby Derby that was going on later that day. So, in the afternoon, we made our way downtown and Cashew entered the baby derby. In our heat, at the blow of the whistle, none of the babies moved! Although Spidey was convinced Cashew could win, we didn't have the right incentive for her to crawl as fast as she could. As we were both busy getting her to crawl across the finish line, there are no pics - thank goodness. They probably would have been embarassing :) There were other things to do there too - like take pictures with a race car and see what we'd look like if we were 8 ft tall. Since it was a home and beauty show, we also got some samples of stuff like Kleenex, Fructis shampoo, Advil etc.

We had a mini-vacation back to see family with special guest Uncle T. We ate lots of yummy Dim Sum - once we were sitting there waiting to order and the power went out! Talk about anticipation!

Guess Cashew thinks Pushi needs some fattening up - ahh, yum.

Our ride home - Cashew usually sleeps like this when she falls asleep in the car. Hopefully this is just a phase and she'll grow out of this pose.

This is the windblown hair look. Much more acceptable for a pose :)

Back at home - Cashew is loving the 'fork'. She loves poking her food and feeding herself.

Got it, yum!
Give me some more! Over there, I know you have more.

Happy 40th Uncle R. Food was great, L. It was nice seeing all the O's.
